Change Inquiry

Hi Kea Class,

As we are coming to the end of the term I would like you to post your thoughts and comments below about the Change Inquiry. 'How has life changed in Wellington over the last 150 Years?

Remember to include comments about what you have achieved during the inquiry, aspects that you have found challenging and any goals you may want to work on for your inquiry next term.

It would also be great if anyone has some interesting facts to share.

Good Luck,

Mr Douglas.

  3. I answerd all my questions exept half of one.The 1st question was: Why did they do the miramar cutting who thought of it when did they do it and what did they use? Answer: they did it so you dont have to go around the bays to get into miramar. they did it in 1910 and they used a steam driven mechanical shovel. I did'nt find out who had the idea. My 2nd question was: has Wellington lost or gaind land over the last 150 years? Answer: Wellington has gaind land over the last 150 years becouse of the earthquake in 1885. I found it hard to get the whole thing finished on time. Next time I will try to get it finnished on time.

  4. Hi Kea class,

I think it was a great inquiry we did this term learning about how life has changed over the last 150 years. It's so amazing about what has changed over the years, I'm glad our teachers are nice not mean and horible like the teachers back in the olden days. Proabaly the key higlights of our inquiry for me were watching all those clips, making kea street and gathering information about the past.

Here are some facts about life 150 years ago:
    1. people travled arond by boats, horses, carriages and bikes.
    2. a massive 8.2 earthquake hit Wellington and the Wairarapa which was bigger than the 7.1 earthquake in Christchurch.

    bye kea!!!

  5. Hi Kea class

It was fun doing the Change Inquiry because I liked what we did for the tuning in.
    The trip was fun.
Next term my goal is to use more than one book and one website.
I think that it was fun and I learned heaps about what life was like 100 years ago.

Bye for now see you tomorrow.

  6. Hi Kea class.
I think it was great to have an inquiry on change because we got to learn about Miramar in the past.
These are some of my questions:
    1. How did the sea rise/fell over the last 150 years.
    2. How did the 1855 earthquake affect the sea level.
Did you know that Miramar was an island before being a suburb of Wellington. At that time there was nobody that lived there.
The inquiry was really fun. Bye KEA

  7. Hi kea
I really liked our change Inquiry this term, my highlight was probably making kea street , waching some clips , makeing some wordles and choosing our own area to work on. I thought that next time maybe I could present mine on time.I did my Area on geography and i'm doing mostly about the folt line in wellington and Earthquakes.

  10. I thought that the change inquiry was a fun and interesting inquiry. I answered one of my questions but I still need to work on the 2nd. I learnt about the materials they used to build olden day homes. I also learnt about the rooms in olden day homes. I think next time I need to do my inquiry a bit faster and gather a little bit more info.
    Thanks Harry Bartle

  12. Hi Kea class.

We are learning about change inquiry.
    We,ve done heaps of work.

Life has changed in every school because if you got into trouble you will get hit really hard, it would hurt really bad if I was naughty.
I guess you have to do more work if I was in school 150 years ago.

Here are some words for what life was 150 years ago...
    1. They didn't drive around with cars, aeroplanes or anything else that had a motor in it they just drived around on horses or they walked or ran.
    2. The woman and men wore funny clothes.
    3. There wasn't alot of houses in Seatoun 150 years ago. Our school wasn't there 150 years ago.

    se,ya kea

  13. Hello,

    THE CHANGE INQUIRY
    The Change Inquiry fun!
My favorite part was well I didn’t really have one because it was all cool!
Next time I think I need to focus on using loads of different sources for researching and I also needed to focus on time management.
I have to say I liked the animal inquiry better but only because we got to make an animal enclosure and went to the ZOO!
One interesting fact that I found out about was that wheels were invented in around 3500bc!!!
I was going to present mine as a timeline with heaps of facts but I didn’t get to finish it. Really fun things that we did were when Mrs. Winnie came in and we made olden day houses. The wordles we made on the computer were really cool and really fun!
The Change Inquiry was really COOL!!!!

    Bye, Bye
