in cananda there is a fire spreding to 1000+ homes.there are so many fire fighters fighting the blaze.

The dog that was found in a car park in Somerset, south-west England, must have been on quite an adventure as she was 1,300 miles from home.
Angel was found in a car park in Taunton. But when animal welfare officers checked her microchip, they found she came from Malaga in Spain.
They've been trying to locate the boxer dog's owners, but with no success.
So they've decided to put a film featuring the pooch online, in the hope her owners will get in touch.

it is amazing how a steam powered car can break a world record! here is the first 2 paragraphs:
A team of British engineers have chuffed their way into the record books with a steam powered car!
Their car, called Inspiration, clocked an average speed of 139.843mph on an airbase in the Mojave Desert in the US.
That smashed the previous record for a steam car, which was set over a hundred years ago, back in 1906.
For the record to stand, the team from Hampshire had to finish two runs over a mile in opposite directions, less than an hour apart.

ReplyDeleteChildren's books are too depressing and don't offer kids any hope, according to former children's laureate Anne Fine.
Speaking at the Edinburgh Book Festival, Fine said she thought books which were too realistic might not help kids "develop their aspirations".
She said she didn't want books to be unbelievable, but was worried gloomy books might have a bad effect.
Current children's laureate Andrew Browne disagreed: "There are both types of endings, happier and unhappier."
He told the Times newspaper: "If you look at Jacqueline Wilson, she does deal in gritty realism, but her books don't lack aspiration."
Do kids' books need happy endings?
Another children's author, Melvin Burgess, was speaking at the same event as Anne Fine.
He disagreed that kids's books need to offer hope.
"Perhaps the light of hope comes from the reader and not the story," he said.
